Will a dual band phone bought in Belgium work in the US

Will a dual band phone bought in Belgium work in the US?
My friend just bought a Sagem my150x and she's going to the states in Febuary. The phone is only a dual-band and she wants to know if she'll be able to text from the states too, [she won't be calling because that's just ridiculously expensive.]

Unfourtunately no. The My150X uses GSM 900 / GSM 1800 bands which are European and not the GSM 8500 / GSM 1900 bands used in North America.

i am an indian with work permit to work in belgium. Can my dependent spouse (engineer) also work in belgium

i am an indian with work permit to work in belgium. Can my dependent spouse (engineer) also work in belgium?
I am an Indian Chartered Accountant. I will be taking up a job in Brussels. I will be soon issued a work permit. I am planning to take my wife along with me on a spouse visa. She is an electronics engineer (from India). Can she work under the belgian immigration laws ? What is the procedure ? I had heard that she cannot take up a full time job. And if she takes up a job, her prospective employer has to first advertise for a belgian/ EU national and can appoint her only if there are no belgian/ EU nationals available for the opening.

Well she cannot takeup job without work permit... until you plan to do it illegally

to be honest i don't really know about labor laws in belgium, but this might help. i know from experience that immigration laws are pretty specific about categorizations of visas. meaning that if you are issued only a dependent visa and not a work permit, then it is illegal for you to work in that country. in most countries you should apply for a work permit OUTSIDE of that country (i.e., your country of residence). if you want your wife to be able to work while you are in begium, i suggest you apply for a job before you go to belgium. then maybe you can both go on separate work permits. you might also want to check this page: http://www.diplomatie.be/en/travel/visa/visumFicheDetail.asp?TEXTID=44253

Advise you to be a little careful with work in Belgium... Their unemployment rate is quite high and it is not sure that you are assured of a job or that you just have a work permit.. It would be best if you had a job lined up prior to going.. The wife, of course, would have to have a work permit and they are not easy to come by with the unemployment so high

depends on the contract - some people cant get their spouses to work for that reason. spouses who wanna work need to get sponsored by their own companies. other than that good luck

Is Greece in the EU as a full member, if so, then you have the right of abode and work in any EU country, not sure about your husband though, contact the Belgium Foreign Ministry in Brussesl (I think) or the Belgian Consulate/Embassy in Greece
2 :
The question arises whether your husband has greek nationality or not. if yes. Than you both can go to belgium and work there without any paper work being a memebr of EU. I hope this will suffice your query.

Will my US television set work in Belgium

Will my US television set work in Belgium?
I'm moving to Belgium and I want to know if I should bother taking my tv set with me. I understand that there is a different broadcasting system in Europe, so will my tv work there, can it be adapted? Or will be it better to give it away and buy a new one?

Yes it will work however, as with all electronics that are over here you will need an adapter to be able to plug it in.

Your TV will not work in Belgium. Their TV system is PAL. See link to TV standards table. http://www.videouniversity.com/standard.htm
