There is work for bricklayers. If your skill is good enough you will find work not knowing the language too. Money starts at around 12Euro/hr for lowest grade up to 22Euro/hr for the highest grade, if you have the right papers (diplomas) you will be paid according to your diploma. Alternatively you will have to work through the grades. It is the employers responsibility to kit you out with work trousers and steel toe boots or hard hat if needed. There is a bonus system in the building trade here in Belgium altough I am not sure in how far it covers temping agencies work. I can only speak from someone that has a permanent job. There is 'ancienniteit', like a loyalty bonus for stayin with the same firm, goes up every year. Another is stamps for 'weerverlet', a scheme that pays once a year for money lost due to adverse weather conditions. You also get holiday money. You get paid dole money for the days when there is no work due to bad weather. You have to fill in a card which indicates wether you have worked that day or not. But be careful cause it is under-taxed and the more dole you get, the more you might have to pay in back taxes. Same for the bonusses, they are not taxed at source so will be taxed at the end of the year. There are a few good firms but most have not so nice working conditions with very early starts and late finishes. You could work via agencies to start with and find a decent firm that will offer you a permanent contract if you are lucky. Also bear in mind that building a house UK style or building a house BE style is different so you will need time to adjust to the way they do things.

Is the processing of work permit (B) for foreigners being affected by political turmoil in belgium

Is the processing of work permit (B) for foreigners being affected by political turmoil in belgium?
How long normally is the processing time for work permit B in belgium? It was actually processed since October 2010 and I was told that it will only take 6-8 wks for me to receive it. Unfortunately, I have not received any updates yet what is the status of my application. I am just afraid that it is already affected by political instability in belgium. By the way, I am supposed to work as a nurse in flanders area.

i would not look for a job there..,first : there is alot of unemployment and second : without a certificate of school, you prolly would not find an employer that would take you there. for every job available, there are about a 1000 that want it,so you can imagine the employer can choose, and of course they only take the highest certifcates.

Hm, it will be indeed very difficult to get a job in Belgium. First of all, you need a valid visum. If you want to stay and work for a longer period (+ 6 months) it can be hard to arrange all the paperwork, and finally I think you'll not be allowed to migrate to Belgium to work. This happens only for special jobs, or on special request of your company... There are (maffia) companies who work with illegall workers, but I shouldn't to that: you're not sure you get the money, you will earn anyway only a piece of the official salary, if you get wounded you are just dumped, if they catch you you will arrive in prison and have to pay a high fence (and dont think your "boss" will help you then).

Pay attention, if you want to come and work in Belgium, you need valid certificates and you must speak French or Dutch. Unemployment is important and you could quickly be the victim of dishonest persons. Be careful ...

you can always check the site for employment in Flanders: http://www.vdab.be , check out sites like http://www.vacature.be , http://www.jobat.be they have a lot of job-offers... But it isn't easy for high-skilled people with (sometimes) several degrees to get a job; you won't find a job very easily.
