I am planning to move to belgium with my boyfriend with cohabitation visa, but people in the embassy told me that I am allow to work there, having this visa, but my doubt is, what do I need to work there, which documents? because I need to prepare them since I am here because the apostille and legalizations etc But thinking that I am living already in Belgium and I have the VISA of cohabitation (the main reason cause I will move to Belgium is to live with my couple, he is belgian, he has already a job) being there, just I need to add some documents to work? that is my question People in the embassy explained me, that I must check in the city council after being there, but I would like to have an idea of which documents I will need

It is pretty difficult to find a job in Belgium, at first you have to be able to speak all 3 official languages-French, Flemish nd German....

You need the language means Dutch in the Flemish part and French at the south part(also in Brussels). Please think twice before moving to here, there's even no work here for the Belg's, still they scream on TV there so many unfilled jobs here.

If you are not a citizen of an EU member state, I believe you will either need a professional card (carte professionnelle in French) to be self-employed or a work permit (permis de travail) to work as an employee. The work permit application is submitted to the authorities by the employer, for a carte professionnelle you have to apply through the Belgian consulate in your home country.

Take a look at the site below...you might find all the answers there... When in Belgium, just go to the local council and ask them what to do... Things you should bring with you as they could prove to be use full : off course your passport (you couldn't get here without ^-^), a certificate of being born, your diploma's, all other official documents you can think about... As some one else already said, you have to be able to speak dutch or French, if not, you'll have a hard time finding work...

You will need a Rijksregisternummer and a SIS card. A Rijksregisternummer is issued through 'Vreemdelingendienst' (foreigners police/immigration services) at the local town hall (gemeentehuis). A SIS card is issued by the 'ziekenfonds'. The Belgians are obsessed with diplomas so whichever you have bring them along. Passport photos will come in handy too. The one thing you will need for most jobs is to speak fluent Dutch and/or French depending on where you live/work.

You'll need your visa, birth certificate, and anything else you need to speak to somebody at the embassy about exactly what you'll need. Also brush up on your Flemish, French, and Dutch languages. Its very important that you know how to speak those languages because that will help you get a job there. I have family there and I visit often and although most people under 30 can speak English its best to know a bit of the language. Have a great time though! Belgium is fabulous. Go to Brugge---its beautiful there. Thats where my family lives.
