It depends where in Belgium. If you'll be living in Brussels then don't worry, it's a very international city with lots of music festivals and things to do. I'm sure you'll meet other teenagers with common interests.

People seem to forget that Belgium has 3 official languages (and Dutch is the most spoken language by 60% of the inhabitants), and there are differences between the Flemish, Wallonie and Brussels regions. But OK, you speak English. So contact with other teenagers will be no problem. Almost every teenager speaks English. In Flanders English spoken movies and television shows get subtitles so you can follow them. In Wallonie they prefer to dub the programs (like in France). Music is very popular with a lot of shows and festivals in every city. The summer festivals (Rock Werchter, Pukkelpop, Dour Festival are the biggest) are very popular. If you do any sport, find a sportclub, it is a good way to meet new people! I'm sure you will like it!

Which part of Belgium? Flanders or Walloon? In Flanders you will be learning Flemish and in Walloon, French. You should be fine - Belgians are tolerant, friendly people.

the weather is horrible!!! - but there's loads to do and plenty of opportunity for young people. expect to not be treated so nicely.

It depends WHERE you are going to live in Belgium. In the Flemish part you are OK with English. In Brussels and the Walloon not. For Larry: have you ever tried to speak something other than French in the Rue Neuve? Be serious! Another of your problems is that you come from an Arab country. Although there is a great difference between Arabs from Nord Africa and the Middle East I am afraid you will have to bear with some racist reactions, caused by extremist position of some legal and illegal Moroccans here. Rock: lots. Ever heard of the Werchter International Rockfestival? All the best.

It all depends on where you are going to be living. But you will have no problem being able to communicate with people your own age. Most people your age speak English and speak it well. Everybody I've come in contact with in Belgium has been extremely nice. I've been a few times and my brother lives there as well with his wife and they love it. As a teenager I'm sure you'll quite enjoy Belgium but since I'm not sure where you are going to be living I can't really say whats good for teenagers. But enjoy your time in Belgium. Its a great place to live.

You will probably end up in one of the international schools in Brussels and will get your education in English. So you are most likely to hang out with your english speaking school friends who's daddy or mummy also got a job in Belgium and moved there for the purpose. Now for the generalisations ... People? Most are as shallow as they come. They drink copious amounts of alcohol, queue by number because they are not civilized to queue without and if there are no numbers be prepared for some elbow attitude. Music Festivals? You missed them, they're all in the summer Teenagers? Most are willing sheep to the consumer industry Anything? They DON'T just speak French in Belgium. Ask your daddy to clarify.
