Health Insurance Belgium

Health Insurance Belgium?
My wife and I have recently relocated to Antwerp, Belgium. She is dutch and already has insurance in Holland since she is working there. So my question is since it seems that insurance and work go hand & hand. Is there a way to just get insurance in Belgium without having work yet? and if so what's the website and is there a comparison website?

i think the best thing you can do is contact a health insurance fund. you'll find some usefull information (i hope) on https://www.socialsecurity.be/site_fr/citizen/Infos/general/02_04/index.htm?lang=fr&action=home&id=4125 this site comes in french, dutch and german, not in english ...

Basic health insurance is covered, both in the Netherlands and Belgium, by the government. In Belgium the best way to comply to the regulations to be insured is to be employed. People living of social welfare are also covered. But your situation is somewhat different I guess. Anyway you should enroll in either the government health fund or one of the private funds. The largest fund in Belgium is the Catholic one: www.cm.be. The government fund in Antwerp: http://www.caami-hziv.fgov.be/gd-antwerpen-N.htm In the Olijftakstraat 7, Antwerp (government fund) they should be able to answer your questions. Additional health insurance can be offered/provided for by an employer or individually taken. These additional insurances are also offered by the large funds (CM / Socialist Fund / Neutral Fund) and private insurance companies.
